Because a healthy nervous system translates to a healthier life, Dr. Andosca seeks to get every patient’s nervous system functioning as optimally as possible. He does that through correcting your spine and extremities, and teaching you how to better manage the daily stresses (i.e. the chemical, physical and emotional stress) we live with.
He determines the frequency of your adjustments based on your X-rays, your thermography scans, and the other tests he performs in your initial evaluation, and at each of your re-evaluations (performed periodically throughout your care to assess your progress).
In order to get your nervous system functioning better, Dr. Andosca often schedules patient adjustments 2-3 times per week to start. “For example, when I say you need two visits per week, I say that because based on your evaluations, I estimate that you can only go up to 3 to 4 days between each adjustment in order to create correction in your spine and extremities, and to improve the functioning of your nervous system,” he said. “We build momentum in your nervous system and your body goes into a rhythm of repair and retracing during a spinal and extremity corrective care process.”
Consistency is the key to obtaining the optimal results during this process, he says. “I tell patients that if you want to get the best results, make sure you don’t miss your scheduled adjustments.” If you do miss appointments, make sure you make them up. Otherwise your body will go back to the beginning before you ever started your chiropractic care, as if there never was any work done. We only can achieve optimal function of your nervous system when you are consistent with your care. “Your body craves consistency in your healing process,” says Dr. Andosca.
Managing Stress
Every day, we are bombarded by three kinds of stress: chemical, physical and emotional stress, and we’re always managing that stress. Chiropractic adjustments help you manage those stresses better and ultimately help you recover better. The spinal correction process that we create for you allows you to get ahead of the impact of the daily stresses you live with.
The Importance of Retesting
To determine how your nervous system is receiving your chiropractic adjustments, we perform regular and consistent re-evaluations. Dr. Andosca performs re-evaluations with thermography scans at least every 12 visits. He performs re-Xrays of your spine and/or extremities no more than every 90 days, “because it takes at least 90 days to see things change radiographically,” he said.
Once we see that your spine and extremities are correcting and your nervous system is functioning better, we will reduce your frequency of care. We will also continue to re-evaluate you periodically throughout your spinal and extremity corrective care program to make sure you continue to progress at the highest level.
When you have achieved a more optimal level of nervous system function, and your spine and extremities are more aligned, Dr. Andosca will transition you to a wellness program. In a wellness program, you will receive chiropractic adjustments on a regular basis, but less often than in a spinal and extremity corrective care program. Many patients receive wellness adjustments on a bi-weekly or once per month frequency. At times, some patients need more frequent chiropractic adjustments. However, some of our patients need less frequent wellness adjustments at every 6 to 8 weeks, or longer, depending on how well their nervous system is functioning. During your wellness program, Dr. Andosca will re-evaluate you at least every 3 to 6 months and modify your wellness program accordingly.
Results Don’t Come Overnight
Depending on the conditions you come to our office with, and the condition of your spine, extremities and nervous system, it often takes at least 6-8 weeks of consistent chiropractic care to start to feel better. However, it can take much longer to correct the structure of your spine and extremities, and to get your nervous system functioning better. Dr. Andosca states that it often takes many patients at least 8 to 12 months of a consistent corrective care program to correct the structure of your spine and extremities and to get your nervous system functioning at a more optimal level.
