The 120 Philosophy
My practice philosophy fundamentally begins with patient education. Thus, I want to begin by explaining how I’ve come to understand how our bodies heal and repair…
On a daily basis, all human beings live with three kinds of stress: chemical, physical and emotional. (For example, our bodies manage the stress due to gravity, repetitive motions, falls, car accidents, sports injuries and other physical stresses; our bodies manage the stress from different types of drugs that we may take, foods that we ingest, and chemicals in our environment; and our bodies continuously manage the stress from emotional upheavals, lack of sleep, relationship and family struggles, and work or professional challenges, etc.) Chiropractic calls these the three T’s of stress: thoughts, toxins, and traumas.
We manage the three T’s of stress through our innate intelligence – our bodies ability to self-heal and self-regulate which is expressed through our nervous system. Every function in our bodies is controlled by our nervous system, and we heal and repair from Above, Down, Inside and Out (ADIO): from our brains down through our spinal cord and out through our spinal nerves to our organs, tissues and cells.
Interferences to the functioning of our nervous system occur from unmanaged stress caused by thoughts, toxins, and traumas. These neural disturbances create small deviations to the correct alignment of vertebrae in your spine called subluxations.
Starting from birth throughout our lifetimes we continually encounter these threats to our bodies ability to self-heal and self-regulate. Unless we are free from subluxations we effectively are not healthy. Correcting subluxations will allow our bodies to restore our natural ability to heal and regulate without external intervention. In addition, and perhaps more significantly, correcting subluxations reconnects our innate intelligence to the universal intelligence that exists in all matter and all living things thus creating health and harmony.
