How Do Chiropractic Adjustments Hold?
Some patients ask how a chiropractic adjustment holds? In other words, how does one chiropractic adjustment help the spine stay in place? In my experience, the patients who do the best with my care and under chiropractic care go through a corrective care program. One adjustment does not “hold” the spine in place. Just like with any kind of healing, it takes time for the body to correct and heal. Thus, when I perform my initial evaluation on a new patient, I will give my best estimate on how long and how many chiropractic adjustments they need to correct their spine. Our bodies heal and repair best when our spines are in the best alignment. I help correct the alignment and then I recommend a wellness program once their spine and nervous system are functioning to an optimal degree. Some patients have gone to chiropractors just on an “as needed” basis. If all that you are going to see a chiropractor for is to get some short term relief, then you are missing out on most of what chiropractic can truly give you. The patients who get the best and most long lasting results are the ones who go through a corrective care program, and then go onto a wellness plan. The wellness plan helps to get your spine checked and corrected on a regular basis. This is what we all need throughout our lives. We can subluxate (pronounced as sub-lucks-ate) our spines and extremities on a daily basis from all the stress that we live with. If we don’t get our spines corrected for subluxations then we build up overloads of stress in our nervous systems unnecessarily. Overloads of stress in the nervous system wreak havoc with our health because the nervous system controls our health and every function in our bodies.
